I don't do the original sit-up anymore. I've never liked these, and I don't believe they work as well as crunches. Also, the majority opinion is, they can cause lower back injury

Last, but not least, is the yoga exercise ball everyone is recommending. This thing is optimal for crunches. It provides a strenuous stomach exercise by forcing you to maintain balance while working out. It's number 1 on my list.
