Dance for Aerobic Exercise
It might be one of the most difficult things to get into, but once you get into the swing of it, aerobic exercise can make an enormous difference in your life. There are many types of exercises you can do, but this type has a tendency to be the most beneficial. If for some reason you cannot attempt this yet, don't worry, you can work your way up to it. Even if you have a disability it may be possible to get some sort of aerobic exercise into your day. Simply to talk to your doctor about your alternatives and see if there is anything he or she might recommend.
Take Your Time
For those who want to pursue aerobic exercise, but have not been active for a while, be sure to take your time and work up to it. If you try to do an hour of aerobic exercise right off the bat, you could actually hurt yourself. You'll want to begin with very short workouts and then add time to your routine as you progress. Start out with just five or ten minutes of exercise and then take a break when you start to feel like you can't go on. You will want to push yourself past that point in the future, but when you start, you want to get your body familiar to the idea of exercising before you do so.
Heart Rate
In order for it to be considered aerobic exercise you have to get your heart rate up and keep it up for a period of time. In the beginning it will be a short time, but you want to add time to your workout every few weeks to bring it up to a half an hour or even an hour if you can do it. You can do this in many ways.
Though you may not think of walking as an aerobic exercise, it can be if you are doing it right. You will have to walk fast, but as long as you are getting your heart rate up you will be enjoying the benefits of aerobic activity. Swimming is another good one.
Dance Videos
For my aerobic exercise I like to dance. I have tried structured workout videos and I'm just not into them. I get bored too easily. When I get bored, I lose interest rapidly, and that’s the end of that. For me, dancing in the living room to a Wiggles’ video is just what works well for me. My daughter can dance with me, and there are many different videos to choose from. All of them will give you a good workout, and all the aerobic exercise you can handle. If you bore easily, look for something like that. That way you might stick with it, at least a little longer than usual.
